Space’s Great Escape
Space, my beloved Shiba Inu and I share a special bond, especially during our walks. One day, we decided to take a hike which turned out to be quite a muddy adventure. Upon returning home, I set out to shower Space on a bench near the front gate. however, Space, not a fan of baths, had other plans.
Mid-shower, he made a leap from the bench, managing to slip out of his leash and dashed out of the house. i did not hesitate and chased after him. My determination to grab a hold of him led to a painful fall on the slippery ground. My chin bore the brunt of the fall, badly scraped as I went down. To make matters worse, my flip flops gave out but I was not about to let that stop me.
With blood trickling from my chin, I continued the chase but Space disappeared from sight after making a sharp turn.
I raced back home, hopped into a car and drove through the neighbourhood, shouting for Space and asking strangers if they had seen him. The sight I must have been! Blood all over and a mess of appearance. I am sure the people I encountered looked horrified at my condition. I searched high and low but Space was nowhere to be found. Just as despair was setting in, I saw him, lounging under the sun in a nearby park, as if nothing had happened.
It was a lesson learned the hard way – never shower Space with the gate open. The scar on my chin today will always remind me of that. I am so thankful to have him back safe and sound.
